Not being fluent in Spanish is kind of really annoying. I just can't get used to pretty much never being able to say precisely what I mean. Also, having people give me a look of pity when I'm trying to string ten words together. That part's not that fun. I think I might be a lot too sensitive about the whole thing, though, which isn't going to help me get any better.
Hopefully, this year will make a big difference for me. I've stuck myself in a situation where I can't help but improve, right? I'm living with nice people who speak little English in a city where most people speak little English and I don't know anyone (yet, at least). What a little recipe for Spanish fluency (or death from frustration-related head explosion) I've cooked up for myself. There are just SO MANY WORDS I don't know or can't recognize when people say them along with other words in quick succession. Crap.
I can't get in touch with my school and I'm supposed to start Thursday. CRAP.
End.

well look who is finally updating! if you're having a tough time with Spanish then there's no hope for the rest of us! you should have taken classes at UF.
Like many others, you've finally reached the point where it makes the most sense to return to college. What an institution! But why not? You've done your two years abroad--this is just a continuation of the rest of your life. What schools are you considering?
And I guess we'll be visiting you in Cordoba next year.
Yes, lol, look at me, Mrs. Updater over here.
I'm definitely coming back for school Fall of '10. I'm applying to UT Austin, FIU (safety, but I really like their program, actually), Temple, and San Fran State. Wish me luck!
Yes! Visit, visit. I'm going to try to hang out here all summer...hopefully I can find work.
What a range of schools you have there! If you go to San Fran State maybe I'll be living in Cali and we'll hang! Or we can hang if you go to FIU and I'm still in Florida.
Good luck on the GRE! Took it already?
Ashlee's applying in San Francisco, too, and it would be funny as hell if we managed to end up in the same place after all this.
My mom practically held a gun to my head to take the GRE while I was home, and it turned out to be a good thing to get it out of the way. So glad to not be stressing over it!
